Round Bars: 10 mm to 550 mm diameter in ready stock.
Square Bars: 10 mm to 200 mm A/F (Across Flats).
Hexagonal Bars: 12 mm to 85 mm A/F (Across Flats).
Flat Bars: Thickness 5 mm to 80 mm; Widths up to 350 mm.
Plates & Sheets: Thickness 2 mm to 180 mm in custom lengths.
We supply Carbon Steel products in several finishes depending on manufacturing requirements:
- Black Surface: Hot rolled, normalized condition with mill scale (ideal for forgings/heavy structural cuts).
- Bright Finish: Cold drawn, peeled, or polished surface with smooth dimension tolerances (ideal for direct CNC machining).
- Ground & Polished: Centerless ground to precise tolerances (+/- 0.05mm) for high accuracy axles and shafts.
Recommended heat treatment profiles for Carbon Steel components:
- Annealing: Heat to 830°C - 860°C, slow furnace cooling. Reduces hardness for machining.
- Normalizing: Heat to 860°C - 900°C, cool in open air. Refines grain structure.
- Hardening: Heat to 820°C - 860°C, quench in water (medium carbon) or oil (high carbon).
- Tempering: Heat to 550°C - 660°C as required to adjust final ductility and toughness.
Main structural applications of Carbon Steel:
- Low Carbon (EN3B / AISI 1020): structural brackets, mild plates, brackets, welded flanges, pipes and tubes.
- Medium Carbon (EN8 / C45): medium-strength shafts, automotive axles, keys, gears, studs, crankshafts.
- High Carbon (EN9 / C55): leaf springs, industrial knives, high strength wire, hammer heads, cutting shears.
